Minnesota Grandparent Advocates
Empowering Grandparents, Supporting Children & Families
Minnesota Grandparent Advocates is a volunteer grassroots organization dedicated to helping grandparents advocate for their grandchildren and families. We provide resources, guidance, and a community for grandparents to navigate the social, legal and emotional challenges they may face. Our mission is to ensure grandparents have a voice and the tools to optimize their health and to positively impact the lives of their loved ones and all Minnesota children.
Our 2024-26 Priorities: How Did We Do?
- We doubled the size of our citizen coalition by connection to other organized citizen groups.
- We created and presented a public policy memorandum to DHS and generated 2 priority partisan bills with senate and house 'change leader' chief authors. Neither bill received a hearing in committee. (Judiciary, Transportation).

We gather the voice of Minnesota Grandparents through formal data gathering, like CDC, Census, MN Demographics and affiliations with organized Grandparent and Senior groups and individual Grandparents across the State. To ensure we are 'moving the needle,' we set clear strategies, goals, track improvements and scale up/replicate best practices.
