Minnesota Grandparent Advocates is a volunteer grassroots organization dedicated to helping grandparents advocate for their grandchildren and families. We provide resources, guidance, and a community for grandparents to navigate the social, legal and emotional challenges they may face. Our mission is to ensure grandparents have a voice and the tools to optimize their health and to positively impact the lives of their loved ones and all Minnesota children.
Our 2024-26 Priorities
Family Preservation, Relative Caregiver Support & Optimized Health and Social Connection: #1 Ensure Grandparents can maintain existing established relationships with their Minor Grandchildren; #2: Develop sustainable funding streams and remove barriers to optimized health for Minnesota vulnerable populations.

We gather the voice of Minnesota Grandparents through formal data gathering, like CDC, Census, MN Demographics and affiliations with Organized Grandparent and Senior groups and individual Grandparents across the State. To ensure we are 'moving the needle,' we set clear strategies, goals, track improvements and scale up/replicate best practices.

We are affiliated with Safe Passage, focused on the safety and welfare of Minnesota Children and transformation of the Child Welfare System. We collaborate with Elder Voice Advocates, whose focus is to protect Minnesota Elders and Vulnerable Adults.

We are influencing and involved with the transformational direction and priorities of the Minnesota Judiciary, Board of Aging, DHS, Age Friendly Minnesota, and the Department of Children, Youth and Families. We work closely with Counties and Local Communities to ensure policies and practices can be delivered to those in need.
